You're probably thinking, why am I posting about last weekend, when it's this weekend? Well last weekend was a blast and it's taken all week to recover. It all started on Friday, because that's when the weekend starts: I dropped my husband off at a friend's house because they were going fishing off-shore the next day. To my surprise, I got to enjoy a beautiful sunset on the water; what a nice reward for being such an accommodating wife ;)
On Saturday, after completing some household chores, I had the great pleasure of spending time with some old friends who were visiting the area. It had been over a year since I had seen them, but it was like we've never been apart. We went to Red's Ice House, a great bar on the water, and had dinner and drinks. It was definitely a late dinner, 9:00pm, but we had a great time watching the boats coming and going and dolphins playing in their wake. For dinner, I had some wonderful coconut shrimp with a sunset margarita that was divine. Good food, good drinks and good friends: nothing gets better!
To round out the weekend, we had brunch on Sunday with these same friends, again on the water. (Can you spot the trend in my life?) The bloodys and mimosas were flowing. Against my normal behavior, I let the waitress order for me as I was being completely indecisive. I was plesently surprised when I was served French toast. I would not normally order something sweet at brunch, but it was a great treat. On top was a sort of cinnamon whipped cream that I could have eaten by the bowl.
We spent the afternoon at the beach playing KanJam, a frisbee game developed in Buffalo, NY. Not only is this game fun to play, it is a blast to watch. To my benefit, the guys started betting margaritas on wins, and believe me I won! For dinner, we went Firey Ron's Home Team BBQ; they have the BEST chicken wings prepared with their BBQ rub, smoked, and served with a white BBQ sauce = AMAZING! I might eat these wings everyday, if it wouldn't add to my waistline.
All in all, after last weekend I was full. Full of good times and good food.
